Notes from the Shadow Lounge
- It was a hot night at the Shadow Lounge last Friday and the second set was magic. I think the new song “I’m a good woman” is fast becoming the crowd favorite. Lots of special guests in the audience. Lady Lita joined the band for a jazzy version of Summertime with some amazing trumpet solos rounding out the experience. Hello to Jeff’s sister and her friend. We celebrated the news that Kenny and Melissa are engaged. Thanks to all of our musical friends who came out for the fun. Great dancing.

Notes from the Olympic

From a fly on the wall …
Busy weekend with two fun gigs. Friday night at the Shadow Lounge on Hertel Avenue was filled with lot of dancing and birthday revelry. Two of the best dancers in town are Tony and Nicki with the smoothest, most beautiful moves. Some friends of Patti’s from Canterbury Woods were having a great time on the upper floor. Hope all the dancers come back in April when Patti Plays Shadow Bar again.
The band did six new songs including I’m a Good Woman and Down to the Bone by Lydia Pense and Cold Blood ,Everybody’s Everything by Carlos Santana, Pass the Peas and Soul Power by Maceo Parker and a funky new version of My Imagination.
Saturday night was a Saint Patty’s Day event at Kodiak Jacks in Marilla. No snow mobiles in the parking lot but there was a snow by the end of the night. Plenty of hot music to keep the crowd happy. Dancing Deb got the crowd going and Proud Mary was a highlight.

Notes from the Olympic
A few of the band members went to Nick’s office at the Olympic for breakfast and a post-show review. I am a fly on the wall….
It was a Hot night at the Sportsmen’s Tavern. Lots of dancing – swing and more. Happy Birthday to Chuck. Patti and the Thugs – not the right name from my way of thinking but we will keep trying. The changes to the Sportsmen’s stage are really great, especially for an 8-piece band – even room for Denzel and Johnny to sit in with the band for a rousing finish. Can’t wait for the mezzanine. Lots of good music in town last night – from Lucky to Sam Noto to Billy Cobb so thanks to all who came out to see the Patti Parks Band. Patti raised the heat level in Buffalo last night for sure.

Patti Parks Band to Appear at the Benefit for the Bands
The Patti Parks Band will be featured at the Benefit for the Bands this Sunday, October 10th, an event sponsored by the WNY Blues Society.
According to the Blues Society website, the benefit improve the quality of the music at the Double D’s Queen City Grill. “If you have ever seen a band go through their set up before a show, just think how much effort goes into setting up the sound system. You have the Control board, The main Speakers to send the sound out to the audience, Their stands, Monitors Cables, Power cords etc.
“To try and reduce this effort, the bands that frequently play at Double D’s Queen City Grill have joined forces to put on a Benefit for the bands. (After all, they do benefits for many other things, so why not themselves) The Goal is to raise enough funds to put a fixed sound system in to Double D’s Then they bring in their Mics, and plug in and GO. The fans of the bands will appreciate this because the speakers and system will have been balanced for the room. A speaker can even be set to play in the Bar Room.”
For an admission of only $20.00 per person you’ll get a Buffet put up by Double D’s Queen City Grill, your first drink and the following GREAT Acts:
